What is a One Stop Shop? A One Stop Shop is a complete home energy retrofit upgrade solution for homeowners. However, before starting, check that the property is eligible for an upgrade. The One Stop Shop service is available to homeowners and private landlords whose properties meet certain criteria.
The house must be built and occupied before 2011 and must have an existing BER of B3 or lower. The target is B2 or better on the completion of works, however there will no grant assistance for any similar home energy upgrades received in the past.
A One Stop Shops offer homeowners the services required for a complete home energy upgrade. Registered private retrofit operators will manage the entire process, from the initial assessment, through to the final BER.
This includes: a fully managed solution, a wider range of grants with the grant values deducted from the cost of works upfront and, most importantly, less disruption to the home owner. Before proceeding with any upgrades, it is important to ensure this is the right scheme for you. You must look at making substantial energy upgrades to your home and achieve a BER requirements at the completion of all works.
In most circumstances, the installation of multiple measures may be needed to meet this requirement. Upon contact, the One Stop Shop will ask some basic, simple questions for a preliminary assessment to determine if the property is suitable for an energy upgrade and what supports are available.
A Home Energy Assessment gives the homeowner, all the important information needed to begin a home energy retrofit upgrade journey. SEAI offers a standalone grant of €350 for this initial assessment.
When happy with the options and the quote provided by the One Stop Shop, work can commence with the home energy retrofit upgrade. It will give peace of mind to the home owner, knowing that all the works will be organised and completed to the highest required standards and the technical specifications.
The One Stop Shop will clearly discount the grants from the overall cost of works invoiced to you, and the grant will be paid directly to the One Stop Shop.
